Saturated Memory
Saturated Memory
This series explores the nostalgia of pre-digital girlhood and how it shapes who I am now. The series revisits the places and small details that defined growing; playgrounds, chalk drawings, bike rides, and glitter in order to explore how memory is kept alive in the everyday spaces. The rich saturation imitates the manner in which childhood nostalgia glows more vividly to me now that I am older, while a few purposely busier images mirror the muddled, imperfect nature of remembering. One photo layers a childhood picture over the old house I grew up in, while others stand alone, capturing the feeling of memory through warm, dreamlike light. For me, nostalgia feels like a layer of grief, not just for the loss of a tangible person, but for the loss of time itself and moments that still linger quietly in the present.
