Floating Church
Floating Church
PFA a photo of the submerged shettihalli Rosary church, in a village about 20 km away from Hassan city in karnataka, India. This church was built by French missionaries in 1860, but was submerged in 1960 due to the construction of a dam. To truly appreciate the beauty of this desolate church, one must visit it twice, one when it is submerged, and the second time when the water recedes and you can walk into the church.
It is also called floating church or submerged church. It is one of the few churches in India which follows the Gothic style of architecture.
